Optical Recorders and PC Card Quick Access Recorder for Aircraft More than 50 airlines already have the Optical Quick Access Recorders in service on a large variety of aircraft types, encompassing most of the Airbus and Boeing ranges. In most cases type certification specifies the unit as a standard BFE option. ![]() The Optical Quick Access Recorder is available in ARINC 404 or ARINC 600 style casing and uses industry standard 31Ú2 inch Magneto-Optical disks. The Optical Quick Access Recorder interfaces to any ARINC 573/717 Data Acquisition (DFDAU) or Data Management (DMU) unit, in many installations recording both an expanded parameter frame and Aircraft Condition Monitoring System (ACMS) data. The recorder incorporates extensive built-in test equipment plus additional features, such as optional direct acquisition and a front panel keypad/display for diagnostics and configuration purposes. The PC Card Quick Access Recorder is the most recent addition to our range of Quick Access Recorders. It is based extensively on the existing Optical Quick Access Recorder product, with the optical medium being replaced by solid state PC Card FLASH memory. Solid-state memory offers the advantage over optical discs that there are no moving parts, and the recording is therefore largely immune to the effects of aircraft environment, such as vibration, temperature, dust and humidity. Recording is on Type II ATA Flash cards. Compact FLASH may also be used with a suitable adapter. Memory cards are available in a number of capacities, allowing the operator to scale memory requirements to the operation. The PC Card Quick Access Recorder (PQAR) interfaces to any ARINC 573/717 Data Acquisition (DFDAU) or Data Management (DMU) unit, in many installations recording both an expanded parameter frame and Aircraft Condition Monitoring System (ACMS) data. Like the earlier OQAR, the PC Card Quick Access Recorder (PQAR) is available in ARINC 404 or ARINC 600 style casing. |
